Terms of Use

1. The service

Gesture Synth lets compatible browsers use a webcam to detect hand landmarks and control synthesized sound. The service includes informational guides and, where supported, an optional local 15-second recording tool. No account, payment, or cloud recording storage is provided.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required in your country, to use Gesture Synth without a parent or guardian. By using the service, you confirm that you meet the applicable requirement.

3. No accounts and local files

Because there are no accounts, you are responsible for each browser session and for saving any local recording you want to keep. Closing the page, discarding a take, clearing browser data, or an unsupported browser state may permanently remove local data.

4. Acceptable use

You may use Gesture Synth for lawful personal, educational, creative, and commercial performances. You must not use the service to violate law or third-party rights; exploit or harm minors; interfere with security or availability; distribute malware; impersonate the project or another person; automate abusive traffic; or attempt to obtain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure.

5. Your performances and recordings

You retain responsibility for performances and local recordings you create. Gesture Synth does not claim ownership of them and does not receive a license to camera footage or local recording files because those materials are not uploaded to the service. You are responsible for ensuring that anything you publish complies with applicable music, privacy, publicity, and intellectual-property rights.

6. Project intellectual property

The Gesture Synth name, site design, original text, interface, and project source code are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Open-source libraries and third-party assets remain subject to their own licenses. These terms do not grant permission to copy the branding, misrepresent affiliation, or redistribute protected project materials beyond rights already granted by an applicable open-source license.

7. Third-party technology

The service uses browser APIs and third-party open-source software, including MediaPipe Tasks Vision and Tone.js. Their availability and licenses are outside Gesture Synth's control. References to third parties do not imply sponsorship or affiliation.

8. Free service and changes

Gesture Synth is provided free of charge on a best-effort basis. Features may be rate-limited, changed, suspended, or discontinued without a service-level commitment. We may block abusive access that threatens users, the service, or third-party rights.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT CAMERA TRACKING, AUDIO, RECORDING, OR SITE AVAILABILITY WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR SUITABLE FOR A PARTICULAR PERFORMANCE.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gesture Synth and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, recordings, revenue, goodwill, or opportunity arising from use of the service. For a free service, total liability will not exceed USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions, liability is limited only to the maximum extent permitted by law, and parts of the limitations above may not apply to you.

11. Responsibility for claims

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your published recordings, your violation of these terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

12. Governing rules

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of gesturesynth.cc, without overriding mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes that cannot be resolved informally.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of Gesture Synth after revised terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Contact and copyright concerns

Send questions, copyright notices, or other rights concerns to privacy@gesturesynth.cc. Include enough detail to identify the material and explain the basis of the request, but do not send sensitive information that is not necessary.
